Infrastructure

Patong beach - Phuket's infamous corner among all tourists. It is the most popular, bustling and fun beach in Phuket. The visiting card of Patong is the famous Bangla road - a street consisting entirely of bars, restaurants, clubs, and entertainment venues.

At Patong beach, you will often catch sight of large cruise ships - this is where they stop as they enter the Andaman Sea. Patong is about four kilometers long and the coastline is about 30 meters wide. The beach is always bustling with tourists, making it completely unsuitable for privacy and peaceful time.

Since there are so many tourists, street vendors constantly walk along the beach, offering their goods. You can buy absolutely everything from them without getting up from your sun lounger. Speaking of loungers, you can rent one anywhere along the beach. Most of the tourists usually gather in the center of the beach - right in the Bangla area.

The sand on the beach is fine, light yellow. Unfortunately, there is a lot of garbage, as beach workers simply do not have the time to clean it up due to the large number of tourists. The noisy crowd is always present here - sunbathers and swimmers are replaced by party goers as the sun sets and the night takes over.

When it comes to beach activities, there is absolutely everything in Patong: jet skis, bananas, parachutes, kayaks, glanders and surfboard rentals. There are also volleyball nets on the beach free for everyone to enjoy.

Right behind the beach strip, there is a road with rather heavy traffic. The main tourist infrastructure of Patong starts just behind this road. Historically, it was Patong that became the center of the party. Back in the late sixties, hippies that came to the island chose this beach as their favorite gathering place.

Patong area consists of two main streets parallel to the sea (there are four of them), interconnected with Bangla Road - the street thanks to which thousands of tourists come here every year for all kinds of entertainment. Bangla is the analog of Pattaya's Walking Street. Every day after sunset, the traffic is blocked and the road is turned into a walking area. The majority of Phuket’s bars, clubs, cabarets and go-go dances, transvestite shows, striptease shows and spicy erotic shows are concentrated here. There is a Gay Quarter nearby, which offers the same entertainment as Bangla Road, but catered towards its own audience.

Bangla is home to the largest club in Phuket - Illuzion. There are two floors, a large dance floor, and a few VIP zones. The nightclub hosts famous international DJs and amazing shows.

The oldest night club - Banana Disco - is also located here. It was discovered about 20 years ago, and it hasn’t lost its popularity to this day. Good live music, nice interior, fully air-conditioned room and an open bar where you can have a snack before the party.

Don’t worry, if you are not a fan of clubbing, there is entertainment for everyone in Patong. There are restaurants offering cuisines from all over the world, including the popular Hard Rock Cafe. There are stalls with Thai food, tropical fruits, freshly squeezed juices, massage parlors, convenience stores and Seven-Eleven shops. If you go further away from the beach and towards the end of Bangla, you’ll find Jungceylon Shopping Mall, offering local and world-known brands. It also has two great department stores "Robinson" and "Big C". Recently a new Central Festival opened in Patong, right opposite Jungceylon - be sure to check it out.

The main Patong attractions are without a doubt Park Loma, the Chinese temple Pun Tuao Kong, the Patong Boxing Stadium, the Simon Cabaret transvestite cabaret show and the Suwan Khiri Wong temple.

If you are staying in Patong with children, visit the free playground at Park Loma. Your little ones will gladly ride the slides, swing on the swings while you relax in the gazebo. Patong has two kids' clubs: Molly Fantasy on the third floor of Jungceylon Shopping Mall and The Kids Club near The Kee Resort.

Seasonality, waves

Patong Beach, like all Phuket beaches on the west coast, is affected by monsoons. But the water is comfortable for swimming all year round - the temperature ranges from 28 to 32 degrees. During high season, from December to May, the sea is usually calm, waves are rare. From May to October, the beach often experiences currents and big waves. Because of this, lifeguards often put up red flags along the beach prohibiting swimming. The water near the coast is usually unclear, you can hardly see the turquoise hue of the sea. The entry into the sea is gentle, without sudden changes, with a dense sandy bottom.

Who it will suit

Patong is more of a youthful area with a great variety of entertainment options, bars and nightclubs. In our opinion, it is not quite suitable for family vacations, especially with children.

Real Estate

There is a wide selection of real estate in Patong. Mostly made out of either expensive hotels or cheap guesthouses, which are located a few steps from the beach. The beach has one interesting feature - the further the accommodation is from the coastline, the higher the prices. High-end private villas in Patong are located on a hill. Here you can always enjoy magnificent views of the sea and breathtaking sunsets from your own balcony. There are also several mid-range condominiums with pools and security.

You can buy an apartment or a villa here for your own possession. Send us an email or call us, and we will gladly help you make a perfect choice.

How to get here

Buses can be found at the south end of Patong beach, from where they go to the city, passing Bangla Road, and picking up new passengers on the way.

You can move around Patong, as well as throughout Phuket, on a tuk-tuk, taxi, or your own transport. There are parking lots available along the beach as well as on the lower levels of the shopping centers.
