Cape Panwa is the southeastern part of Phuket Island. Very unpopular with Russian tourists, Cape Panwa is loved by visitors from Europe, Australia, and the USA, and even Thai locals.

There are three observation decks, a port, fairly high-end hotels, private villa complexes, and the wonderful Ao Yon Beach.

Fans of water sports can go kayaking or paddling - the water is clear, the visibility is excellent even at the deeper ends. There is also a diving school here.

If you are planning to stay at Cape Panwa, or just visit for a walk, then be sure to add the observation deck at the Khao-Khad Views Tower to your "must-see" list. This is the only place in Phuket that offers a 360-degrees panoramic view of the southeast coast of the island. Tourists rarely visit the tower, so no one will bother you while you enjoy the views. At the bottom of the tower, there is a small square where you can sit on a bench under the shade of the tropical trees and take a break from the heat.

Also further along the Panwa coast, there is the Kao Khad View Point. It offers the magnificent views of the south of Phuket and the majestic snow-white Big Buddha sitting on a hill.

The third observation deck is located almost at the most southeastern point of the island - Cape Panwa View Point (Kao Khad View Point). There is also a small, but well-groomed promenade with cafes and shops here. You can admire the views of the sea, boats and breathe in the sea air.

Boats are moored right next to the embankment, which can take you to the neighboring small islands.

Waves, seasonality

You will never see waves at Ao Yon Beach. The water temperature ranges from 27 to 33 degrees. Swimming here is always comfortable, the sand is fine, light, with rare scatterings of shells or pebbles. Walking barefoot is very pleasant, and entering the sea is safe and easy. The coastline is wide enough, but there is not too much natural shade - along the entire coastline hotels and private estates stretch for almost 700 meters. Therefore, it is better to take an umbrella with you or rent it here from one of the coastal restaurants.

Who it will suit

Ao Yon is suitable for those who like a quiet, calm rest. To get to the noisy night life, bars and clubs you will have to drive for quite a long time - lively Patong is located exactly on the opposite coast.

Ao Yon is preferred by Europeans, families with children, and elderly people. Remember that you can swim here at any time of the year - there are no waves!

How to get here

Other nice features of Cape Panwa are the wide, smooth roads and the almost complete lack of traffic. You can get to Ao Yon and Cape Panwa by public transport from Phuket Town. The journey takes about 20 minutes, and the cost of a songthaew ride is about 50 baht.

To get from Phuket International Airport to hotels in Panwa it will take about an hour by taxi. The trip will cost about 900-1000 baht.

The most convenient way of getting around, of course, is to rent a car or motorbike. Then the transport distance of Panwa from other areas of the island will not be an inconvenience for you.

If you are getting to Ao Yon on a car - you'll have to pay the 200 baht entrance fee. This is because the road to the beach passes through private territories. But you can always leave your car or bike at the parking lot along the main road and walk down the slope for about 200 meters. There are several slopes, all of them are asphalt and shady.

Real Estate

There are several mini-hotels near Ao Yon beach directly on the first coastline. At Cape Panwa, you can rent apartments for short and long periods - there are several low-rise residential condominiums. Or opt to rent a villa with a private pool and gorgeous views of the sea - on the east coast slope of Panwa, there are several luxury complexes with breathtaking views of the sea and sunrises.

So far, no new complexes under construction have been noticed in this area. But we are sure, that the popularity of this corner of Phuket will grow quickly!
