How much do excursions in Phuket cost?
As a 2026 market guide: island group tours run roughly 1,000–2,500 baht per person, island boat trips 1,500–3,500, the Similans from 2,500, and helicopter flights from 5,000 per seat. The operator sets the exact figure — it depends on your dates, group size and the season — and sea routes add national park fees (Similans 500 baht per adult, Phi Phi 400, Phang Nga 300). Which tours are worth it on a first visit to Phuket?
The classic set is one island boat trip (Phi Phi, Racha or Phang Nga Bay), one nature day out (Khao Sok or Cheow Lan Lake) and a sightseeing tour of the island itself with the Old Town and temples. That covers sea, jungle and culture without turning the holiday into a travel marathon.
When is the best time to visit the Similan Islands?
The Similan Islands national park is officially closed to visitors from roughly mid-May to mid-October, and no boats run there in that window. Underwater visibility and sea conditions are best from December to April. If you are travelling in low season, choose Racha, Coral Island or Phang Nga Bay instead — they are open all year.
Will you pick us up from our hotel?
Yes — most group tours already include return hotel transfer, and the driver comes to reception in the morning. Hotels in the far north of the island and in Khao Lak sometimes carry a small pickup surcharge. We send the exact departure time the evening before.
Can we bring small children?
For most tours yes, and children travel at a reduced rate. Speedboat trips to the far islands are tiring for pre-schoolers, though: the crossing takes hours and gets bumpy in a swell. With toddlers it is better to choose island tours, the zoo, a show, or gentler options such as the Botanical Garden. Tell us the children's ages in advance and we will suggest what fits.
What should I bring on a tour?
Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and some cash. For boat trips add a spare T-shirt and a light windbreaker — it gets cool under way. Temples require modest clothing with shoulders and knees covered. Carry your passport or a copy on any trip beyond Phuket.
