Cheow Lan Lake is one of the most rewarding trips on the mainland. The scenery is unspoilt and quite unlike anything on Phuket: limestone towers rising straight out of still green water. If you have no time for the two-day version, the day trip answers the question well enough — and most people come back. A stop at the Monkey Temple and an elephant walk add a little local wildlife to the views.
