Infrastructure
Not a lot of people who travel to Phuket know about Laem Sing beach, so when they accidentally see it from the observation deck between Kamala and Surin, they are usually very pleasantly surprised by the turquoise color of the water, and pristine white sand right at their feet.
This small beach, cosily tucked in a bay at the foot of the hills, covered with tropical greenery is called Laem Sing. Quiet, calm, deserted - a piece of paradise in the central coast of Phuket. Several years ago, the beach was buzzing with tourists despite the paid entrance. However, the walking path to Laem Sing is now closed. You can only get here by swimming from the neighboring beaches.
The length of the coastline is about 300 meters, but only the central part of the beach, about 160-180 meters, is suitable for swimming. The rest of the space is limited by the scatterings of large and small stones. It is great to dive here with a mask and a snorkel - flocks of colorful fish dance around the boulders, and crabs run around the rocks.
As Laem Sing beach officially closed down, the tourist infrastructure was dismantled and taken away. Now the beach is perfect for a peaceful relaxation, without the bustle of tourists.
Waves, seasonality
The water temperature at Laem Sing does not drop below 28 degrees throughout the year and usually even gets warmer than on other beaches. This is due to the smaller length and depth of the beach. The sand here is fine, almost snow-white, and is pleasant to walk on.
Between November and March, the water is calm and smooth, just like at the other beaches on the west coast. However, from April to October there are often waves, and swimming here becomes dangerous due to the proximity of the stones.
Sun loungers and umbrellas have been removed from the beach. If you decide to come here, be prepared to sit in the shade of trees right on the sand. Even on a hot afternoon, there’s cool shade for you to hide in.
Who it will suit
As soon as the local authorities open Laem Sing beach, it will be comfortable for everyone. Parents with children will enjoy the calm and gentle sea; older people will appreciate the cool shade from the rocks; snorkeling fans will find entertainment among the coastal boulders.
How to get here
Locals will gladly take you here on their boats from neighboring beaches. The cost of a one-way trip per person is about 100 baht.
Currently, the only option to get to this wonderful beach is by sailing on your own in a rented kayak or paddle board.
When the beach opens back up, you will be able to get here by going off the road between Surin and Kamala. Watch the signs carefully - there will be two roads to the beach. You will have to leave your car or bike at the top and go down to the water on foot. The descent is quite steep, but even with children it is convenient.
You can also walk to Laem Sing from Surin or Kamala. You will have to hike up the hill for some of the way, so if you ever decide to take this way, we advise you to go out in the morning and take a couple of water bottles.
Real Estate
Since Laem Sing is located at the foot of the hill, there is no real estate on the beach itself. But if you want to live close to this bay, then pay attention to residential complexes in Surin. Here you will have access to both Laem Sing and Surin. In Surin area, you can rent apartments or villas for both short and long-term stays. Several condominiums are currently being built here, where you can purchase two or three bedrooms apartments.
